From Tehachapi to Oakland: 360° Belly Cam
Переглядів 1932 роки тому
My first test with 360° video, using a belly cam attached to my RV-7, on a flight from Tehachapi to Oakland. The startup and takeoff are real time and the rest of the flight is a timelapse. This is also where I learned that the placement of the belly cam mount is perfect for getting oil on the lens.
ASI Accident Case Study - Three Sixties

This is a PARODY of an ASI Accident Case Study video, made to celebrate a recent fly-out to Shelter Cove Airport that ended in a diversion to Willows County Airport. No Cirruses were harmed in the making of this video. The other participating aircraft were also not harmed, but they weren’t Cirruses, so the bar wasn’t very high to begin with. How do you acknowledge alerts like the probe heat.?
In the real aircraft, you can tap the caution indication on the GTC in order to acknowledge the alert. That’s not modeled in the Sim yet.
@riscfuture thank you! I thought I was just crazy for a moment lol.
One more, so there is no Taxi light ?
The landing lights can serve as a taxi light
On takeoff : So the TOGA button that is modeled in MSFS is not any real thing ?
Yes, there is a TOGA button on the real aircraft
Great video. I used it to create my own cheat sheet for start up of this lovely little plane in MSFS. Thanks for creating it! Quick question to anyone - how do I move around the cockpit so fluidly as shown in this video? That’d make my virtual flying so much more enjoyable.
I use TrackIR
Thanks for this. very comprehensive! I just acquired this plane.
Best tutorials, as always!
Dayum right about the head spin, but it's a very good video, which i will go back to next time before takeoff. Thanks a lot
Not sure if the A/T is just still not working properly or if there is an approach mode to activate? I might have done something wrong but just flew my first flight in this and the A/T never targeted speeds for approach.
By far the best video about this amazing plane; really well done, Tim! you for sure have a new subscriber
So glad I found your channel! Your videos have been very informative and a joy to watch since I just recently got the vision jet! Just wanted to ask how did you get the flight plan to display underneath the map?
It’s under the Map settings, Inset Window.
Thank you for the knowledge.
Amazing!
Thank you so much for this instruction. My question is that I do not see the TOD marker on the map. Is there a setting that needs to be turned on> to display the TOD point?
There’s nothing to turn on, but you do need downpath waypoints with altitude restrictions.
@@riscfutureThank you, got it!
Another great video, keep them coming Stretch!
A very informative tutorial of the Vision Jet, if possible please repeat same flight in the updated version of the vision jet. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Not the same flight, but I have another flight video where I cover the new stuff.
Stupid question: I can‘t find where to set the altimeter. Where can I set it?
There’s a BARO knob on the center panel between the PFD and MFD.
First understandable bms tutorial found on youtube 😅, thanks.
New subscriber. I learned a lot of little details I've been missing watching this. Thank you!
So far, the best SF50 instructional video! Cheers!
I dont see the VAMS thing in my plane
This video was made prior to the version 2.0 update. Now it’s controlled with the iPad
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! Thank you for this tutorial!
this is an awesome video, thanks! relative to other payware aircraft in msfs2020 I think the one by FlightFX for the Vision Jet is really high level, too high level.
How do you get the active flight plan shown as a vertical split on the map right screen?
It's under the Settings for the Map view.
@@riscfuture found, is "insert window".
Tim your videos are such a pleasure and so informative. I like the real life narrative, I actually went to the Cirrus website to check all the aircraft brochures and the real airport on Goggle maps! Now I have a doubt: to enable A/T should I set the thottle to a specific detent? And in general is there a way to calibrate the detents into the sim aircraft? Can you be more specific on how to manage throttle during flight phases (also considering VNAV) and how to manage A/T? Thanks
Vnav is still a broken mess on this thing in msfs.
What an incredible video man! Thanks a ton! I love flying the Vision Jet in MSFS so this is just so helpful to get really deep into the sim aspect of everything. What an incredible aircraft it is though... I've been doing maximum range trips to really push the jet as far as it can go going from PHLI to different Line and Cook Island airports in the Pacific and it's been so accurate with the fuel consumption. The plane is such a joy to fly too, it's slow to accept inputs, it's not overly touchy, and it's so easy to land with its lower approach and landing speeds. I'm envious you get to fly it in real life!
I have a question. How do you get a 200 lb incapacitated pilot out of his cramped seat??
setting radio to frequency 121.5 is all you need to remember per another "land it by yourself" video i just watched. 😎
Can anyone tell me how I can get the Flight FX SF50 Vision Jet on my Microsoft Flight Simulator. Does it come with MSFS 2020? Which version ? Or is it a separate add-on? Thanks. These are great videos.
I figured it out.
Thank you Tim, Great video. Can I ask what are you using for view navigation. It looks very fast and effective. Thanks.
Just TrackIR
This is amazingly informative! Thank you my friend you are brilliant!
Hello, this is wonderfull. Would you allow me to translate and make a new video from yours by mentioning you. Cheers.
No problem
Just a point of clarification. You don’t need to be a CFI/MEI to sign off someone’s SOE. You just need to be appropriately type rated and of course free of a SOE yourself.
61.64(g) does say that, however, insurance requirements go above and beyond the FARs, and typically require a CFI who meets the pilot's open pilot warranty (in my case, 2000TT, 200 turbine, and 150 in type).
Great video; I learned a few things.
Great video! On that hold from the missed, I’m pretty sure the garmin 3,000 will elect do perform a teardrop. For whatever reason the g3000 loves teardrops and 45 degree entries to them…
I know this is an older video but as someone new to the Vision Jet in MSFS it’s fascinating and enjoyable to see your real life flights. Especially so in such amazing and exciting conditions!
Really useful and great video! Loving this little jet.
Man do you know how can I move the course because in vor navigation is with the knob established in the upper part of the GTC and it says CRS but I’m not being able to mi e the course when flying GPS and activate OBS. Do you know if real life vision jet is equally?
Works in the real aircraft, but not in this sim.
Nice content! Please do more.
I’m confused with auto thrust. I activate it on climb and it’s set to around 150ish. Then it randomly starts decreasing over time and I stall..
The auto thrust changes from IAS hold to Mach hold at 18,000 feet. In the real aircraft, this is indicated by the speed target changing from (e.g.) 150 knots to M0.231. What altitude are you stalling at? The ceiling is 31,000 feet.
@@riscfuture Thanks for responding. I was stalling at ~14,000 feet, well below the change from IAS to Mach. I had VS set in the ballpark of 2500-3000 fpm. When the aircraft began stalling I lowered the fpm to ~1000 and the aircraft was barely recovering and above stall speed. I tried to take the aircraft out of AT but even when I did I couldn’t go past 30% and could barely regain my speed back. Not sure what caused this one that flight, could’ve very well been my VS. I tried again a few more times after writing this comment and noticed that when I set the AT to MAN and set the it to 165 manually it would *kind of* stay at my selected climb speed of 165. It would dip down to 145 at some times for no reason and then go back up. During that attempt I was climbing at 1300 fpm.
@@dirtytreerat14 the vision jet cannot sustain 3000 fpm above about 6000 feet or so. This is why we climb in FLC mode and not VS mode. An engine’s ability to generate thrust decreases with altitude. 30% thrust is normal at high altitudes.
@@riscfuture That makes a lot of sense as to why I was stalling. Thank you for replying.
How do you get the Air Condition to work? I can't figure out how to get the AC Compressor or Condenser Fan to come on.
In the real aircraft, the A/C is automatic and not controlled by the pilot. Not sure if it’s implemented in the sim.
Absolutely fantastic! What key binds do you use for the check list/MFD pages. Many thanks and looking forward to checking out more of your content!
No key binds, I just mouse everything.
Wish I could use this jet. I suffer from screens shorting out and loss of all autopilot at random times. I have a beefy pc with a 4070ti and this is the only plane this happens on. Anyone else having these issues? It really seems like it’s the plane and not anything else because nothing like this happens on any other plane even ones with g5000s. I hope they fix this because I love this plane.
Do you have any mods installed? Some of them, even on the Xbox, were messing with my planes FMS and MFD's so it's good to check into that and start uninstalling some to see if they are the issue.
is there a solution to connecting to an external gpu when there is no option at the airport I am starting at? My I keep getting an engine bus volts warning and a few mins later it will shut off
I meant to say engine start volts warning
I love flying this jet but it’s also pretty difficult on controller. Can’t wait for my stick to arrive
Congrats on the type rating!
nice run
Looks like they changed a bunch of stuff for mission 24 because this looks way different. The new version is still insanely hard.
